Among the most remarkable new pieces of this year, Moraíto’s bulerías needs special attention. Jerez is the cradle of bulería; in Jerez, bulería is a rhythmical way of life. Apprenticeship in bulería should always pass by the assimilation of this style, bare in its form but learned in its structure. Moraíto is the absolute master of the Jerez bulería, therefore absolute master of the bulería. Sor bulería, technically easy, and played in the usual A phrygian key, is a lesson in compás and a standard of modern bulería. Pámpano verde, played in the modern C# key, and should be listed on the program of every conservatory where flamenco guitar is taught. All kinds of rhythmical figures are explored here. Easy to play also, here is a first rate tool to improve your mastering of the bulería.

El Bola
Granaína Al Chacón
LP: Agustín Carbonell
El Bola
Pure gypsy guitar, a reminder on El Bola’s genius, central figure of the 90s’ flamenco, and a reminder as well of this historical recording.
.

Manolo Sanlúcar
Soléa Without title

Public recital: Bienal Sevilla 1986
Here is a real treasure that has been sleeping deep in my archives for too long: transcribed from an exceptional performance by the master. This soleá, apart of including superb and original variations that are not found on his records, is remarkable for its fantastic digression por minera.
.
Bulería Viva Jerez

LP: Mundo y Formas vol. 2
His reference in this style.
.

Sabicas
Tientos canastero Danza de las Marianas

LP: Furioso
Just magical.
.
Fandango de Huelva El Conquero

LP: Flamenco fever
Rich with falsetas that can be usefully taken for cante accompaniment and played in the less common key of A. Another great example of Sabicas' legacy, another wonderful page added to the flamenco repertoire.
.

Paco Peña
Danza Mora Moruna

LP: Flamenco Guitar
Oriental tour
.
Soleá Without title

One of the highlights of his magnificent LP Flamenco Guitar
Farruca Without title

LP: Flamenco Guitar
His best piece in this style, another jewel from the same LP
Siguiriya Puro metal

LP: Live in London
Amazing piece, original in Paco Peña’s repertoire, this siguiriya is made up of remarkable and personal variations.

Quique Paredes
Taranta La regla y el manuel

LP Amanece el día
As always with Quique Paredes, transparency, efficiency, easy to play.
.

Serranito
Tientos Con sentimiento y pasión

LP: Flamenco en la guit. de Serranito
Serranito is the first great innovator of the flamenco guitar. His blazing style, that has turned classical to day, remains a model of perfection and genius in the composition. Con sentimiento y pasión is definitely a must in this palo. It is a source of fine falsetas in a style that is seldom developed as solo composition.

Paco del Gastor
Bulería en E Without title

Private juerga Morón 1968
The most exceptional piece in the 2010 novelties. Taken from a private juerga, this is the closest transcription of a unique moment, of something that recording studios or stage performances cannot produce. This fantastic bulería explores all the E keys (Major, minor, phrygian). I send here all my thanks to Ted Bakewell who gave me the recording of this moment of pure flamenco, thus allowing the conservation and handing down of such treasure.

As always, you can buy a cassette tape recording of any of the above pieces when you purchase the transcription.
